The short version
When you book a class and pay online, AllSquads adds a small booking fee on top of the class price at checkout. You always see the class price, the booking fee, and the total before you pay — the fee is never hidden inside the class price you're shown.
AllSquads calls this the booking fee. You might see it described elsewhere as a service fee or a checkout fee — it's the same charge.
The booking fee is AllSquads' service fee for booking and paying through the platform. It isn't a surcharge, and it's the same however you pay.
What the booking fee pays for
A booking you make and pay for yourself through AllSquads comes with:
- booking and paying at any time, without contacting the club or coach;
- automatic account credit if the club cancels, or if you cancel within the club's cancellation policy;
- a receipt for every payment;
- using account credits, promo codes, session packs and eligible vouchers;
- saved payment methods and automatic renewal of subscriptions and memberships;
- managing the booking yourself in My Bookings, including cancelling or transferring it under the club's policy.
There's no booking fee charged to you on a booking the club records as paid to them directly (for example in cash). If you have a real AllSquads account, that booking still gets the platform services above automatically — the club pays a booking fee and its own platform fee for it instead of you.
Your AllSquads account is free. It includes your profile, your children's profiles, a list of your bookings, messaging with your clubs and coaches, and the Concierge. You'll always be told if a club cancels or changes a booking.
How the fee is worked out
- It's a percentage of the class price after any promo code. A club promo code or discount lowers the price, and the fee with it. Credits reduce what you pay for the class, not the booking fee. The percentage depends on the class type (group, term, camp, court hire, and so on) — see the Pricing Tiers help article for the full rate table by class type.
- Minimum fee: 50¢, GST-inclusive. Every booking fee is at least 50¢, even when the percentage works out to less. This mainly affects cheaper bookings, where a small percentage would otherwise round to just a few cents.
- Charged once per checkout, not once per class. If you book more than one class in the same checkout, AllSquads works out ONE combined booking fee for the whole checkout — you don't pay a separate 50¢ minimum for each class in your cart.
- Nothing to pay means no fee for you. If your credit or a promo code covers the whole booking, you pay nothing at all, booking fee included. A promo code that takes the class to $0 means no booking fee for anyone.
- Credit from a cancelled booking isn't charged twice. When you cancel and get credit back, the booking fee you already paid stays paid. So the part of a new booking that this credit covers has no booking fee: you only pay the fee on what's left. For example, a $240 class with $200 of cancellation credit has a booking fee of 3% of the $40 you pay by card ($1.20).
How much fee will I pay? Four worked examples
Example 1 — a $5 drop-in class, no credit
A $5 drop-in class carries a 3% booking fee. 3% of $5 is 15¢ — below the 50¢ minimum, so the 50¢ minimum applies instead.
- Class price: $5.00
- Booking fee: $0.50 (the 50¢ minimum, not 3% of $5)
- Total charged: $5.50
Example 2 — a $21 class, no credit
A $21 group class also carries a 3% booking fee. 3% of $21 is 63¢, which is already above the 50¢ minimum, so the percentage applies as-is.
- Class price: $21.00
- Booking fee: $0.63 (3% of $21.00)
- Total charged: $21.63
Example 3 — a multi-session cart
You book three group classes in the same checkout: $8, $5 and $8 — $21.00 in total. Each class still has its own 3% group rate, but the 50¢ minimum is applied ONCE to the whole checkout, not to each class separately.
- Combined class price: $21.00 ($8 + $5 + $8)
- Booking fee: $0.63 (3% of the combined $21.00 — the same one fee a single $21 booking would carry, not three separate 50¢-minimum fees added together)
- Total charged: $21.63
Example 4 — a booking part-paid with an AllSquads credit
You book a $180 class at a club where you hold a $72 AllSquads credit. The credit is applied to the class price, leaving $108.00 for you to pay. The booking fee is the class's 3% group rate on the full $180 class price.
- Class price: $180.00
- Credit applied: $72.00 → left to pay for the class: $108.00
- Booking fee: $5.40 (3% of the $180.00 class price)
- Total charged: $113.40 ($108.00 + $5.40 booking fee)
If the credit had covered the full $180 instead, there would be nothing left to pay and you'd pay $0, with no booking fee. The same goes for a promo code that takes the class to $0.
What the booking fee covers
The booking fee pays for your use of the AllSquads platform: your account, managing your own profile and your children's profiles, and the booking, payment and communications that come with it — confirmations, schedule changes and cancellation notices by email, SMS and in-app.
Messages go to players who have an AllSquads account, however a booking was paid, and cancellation notices also come by SMS. If you have no AllSquads account, AllSquads doesn't send you anything about your bookings; your club or coach will contact you directly.
Where you'll see it
The exact booking fee for your own booking is always shown at checkout, before you pay — on the cart/checkout page, and again on your booking confirmation and receipt.
