TL;DR

AllSquads vs OpenSports, the short version

  • AllSquads puts socials, court hire, term classes, camps and memberships on one roster, so a court booking and a social never clash unseen.
  • Memberships and member pricing are part of every AllSquads club tier, the free Club tier included, with no plan upgrade to start charging members.
  • One class takes a term enrolment and a drop-in together, which is how Australian coaching runs.
  • The club is paid once a week in Australian dollars, one payment itemised booking by booking, with GST inside our published rates.

AllSquads runs the whole week of an Australian club on one roster: the Tuesday social, the court bookings in between, the junior term class and the members who get their own price on all of it. Players pay by card when they book and the club is paid once a week. This page sets that beside OpenSports using only what each side publishes.

What is OpenSports?

OpenSports is event and league software from OpenSports Inc., a company in Toronto whose terms are governed by the laws of Ontario. Organisers publish pickup games, classes, leagues and tournaments, and players register and pay through it.

Why clubs look for an OpenSports alternative

Each of these is checkable on the pages they publish.

Memberships need a bigger plan

Their own feature matrix leaves selling memberships and class passes, and running leagues and tournaments, off the entry plan. On AllSquads, memberships and member prices come with every club tier.

Courts are not part of it

Their pages describe pickup games, classes, leagues and keeping track of scheduled field time. Players booking and paying for a court themselves is not a feature we could find on their public pages. AllSquads takes court hire on the same roster as the coaching.

Every payment carries a fee on top of Stripe's

Their pricing page publishes a transaction fee on event, league and membership payments, and a footnote saying it excludes Stripe's own fees. AllSquads rates are in Australian dollars with GST inside.

A club year is terms, not one-off events

Their classes are one-off or multi-week events. An Australian club runs school terms, holiday camps and casual drop-ins, and AllSquads keeps that on one class and one attendance sheet.

AllSquadsOpenSports
Getting paidPlayers pay by card when they book or enrol, as a one-off, a subscription, a drop-in or a term instalment, and the place is held only once payment clears.Event registration with payments, waivers and refunds on every plan, through the organisation's own Stripe account, with a transaction fee on event, league and membership payments on top of Stripe's fee.
The rosterCourts, term classes, camps, private lessons, socials and memberships share one roster, so a clash between a hire and a session is visible the moment it is created.Attendee tools, check-ins and multiple admins per event on every plan; league schedules, referees and scores from the Full Time Club plan up.
Term and drop-in on one classOne class takes both: enrol for the term and drop-in is a toggle on that same class, so a casual player and a term family sit on one roster and one attendance sheet.Classes run as one-off or multi-week events, and class passes lower the per-game cost against drop-in prices. Whether one class carries a term enrolment and a casual booking together is not something its public pages state.
Cancellations and creditsA cancelled session becomes account credit under the class's own cancellation policy, visible to both sides and spendable on anything the club sells.Players who cancel by the refund deadline the organiser sets are refunded automatically. A credit balance a player can spend elsewhere at the club is not described on its public pages.
RemindersReminders go out before a session and before each subscription charge, by email and push, with the club choosing which events notify whom.Event invites and chat on every plan, and push and email notices when a waitlist place opens. Session reminder settings are not described on its public pages.
Member pricingMembership tiers carry their own rates and the member price applies by itself to classes, court hire and a Pro Shop discount, with one tier able to cover a family.Memberships and class passes from the Full Time Club plan up: annual memberships discount pickup games and monthly memberships give unlimited drop-ins. Family memberships are not mentioned.
WaitlistsA full class takes a waitlist that is on by default, and everyone waiting is told the moment a place opens. Nobody is booked or charged until they choose to take it.A waitlist on every plan that notifies the next player by push and email, who then has a set window to join and pay.
PayoutsOne payment to the club every week for the week just gone, itemised booking by booking. An independent coach's own bookings pay out to that coach.Stripe pays the group's balance into the group's own bank account on its Stripe payout schedule, which their help article says differs by country. A weekly itemised club payout is not something we could find on its public pages.
Court hirePlayers book one or several full courts in one checkout and split the cost between up to eight people, on the same roster as the coaching with the member rate applied.Unified schedules for keeping track of scheduled field time. Players booking and paying for a court is not a feature we could find on its public pages.
Comms and AIContact records with email, in-app messages, push notifications and broadcast announcements, plus AI built in: the Club Agent in the dashboard and the Concierge for players. SMS covers cancellations, reminders and payment requests on paid tiers.Event invites and group chat on every plan, Google Analytics and Ads from the middle plan, and a custom branded interface and Zapier on Premium.
RecordsRevenue, bookings, attendance, court use and members in weekly, monthly, quarterly and financial-year reports with drill-down, so a treasurer or auditor can work from them at season end.Reports with exports of revenue, orders, membership payments and attendees on every plan, and custom reporting on Premium.

How AllSquads compares

Four differences a club feels once it is more than one weekly social.

One roster for the whole week

AllSquads keeps the social, the court bookings, the junior term class, the holiday camp and the private lesson on one roster and one calendar. A player sees every way to play at the club in one place.

Members without a plan change

On AllSquads a membership tier carries its own price across classes, court hire and the Pro Shop, and one tier can cover a family. It is part of the club tier, so a group that starts charging members does not need to move plans first.

The coaching season

An Australian club's year runs on school terms and holiday camps. On AllSquads one class takes a term enrolment with excluded holidays and a casual drop-in together, and term instalments spread the cost for families.

Money the treasurer can reconcile

AllSquads pays the club once a week for the week just gone, itemised booking by booking, with reports by week, month, quarter and financial year. Our rates are published in Australian dollars with GST inside.

Why clubs and coaches run on AllSquads

One platform for the whole operation: bookings, payments, courts, members and messages, built for racquet clubs and the coaches who run them.

  • Every class type on one timetable

Group classes, terms, camps, private lessons, socials, court hire and retreats all live on one schedule, with one roster per session.

  • Every way to pay

Upfront, weekly or monthly subscriptions, drop-ins, memberships, session packs and term instalments, collected online and paid out to your club every week.

  • Court hire with cost splitting

Players book one court or several in a single checkout and split the cost between up to eight people, so nobody chases anyone for their share.

  • A CRM with every channel

Every player and parent has a contact record, and you reach them by email, in-app message, push notification or broadcast. Paid plans add SMS for cancellations, reminders and payment requests.

  • Team scheduling

Coaches set their availability, you assign a head coach to each class, and a substitute takes a single session without rebuilding the class.

  • Admin that runs itself

Reminders go out before a session and before every subscription charge, the waitlist tells everyone waiting the moment a place opens, and cancellations turn into account credit under your own policy.

  • Promo codes and a pro shop

Discount codes at checkout, and a pro shop with member pricing and online or cash sales that land in the same weekly payout.

  • An AI agent on both sides

The Club Agent answers questions about your bookings, members and money from the dashboard, and the Concierge helps players find and book the right class.

  • Analytics you can act on

Revenue, bookings, attendance, court use and member trends, with weekly, monthly, quarterly and financial-year reports you can drill into.
